Why am I so Fat?

One Idea:

Why am I so Fat?  Two hundred years ago, sugar wasn’t a staple in most people’s diets, and obesity was rare. People didn’t graze on food for 15 hours a day, and when it got dark, they went to bed. Their sleep schedule was consistent, and they moved throughout the day. There was no TV, no phones to distract them. They simply ate less sugar, stuck to a natural sleep routine, and stayed active. It sounds simple, but it’s something we can all learn from.

One Question:

What percentage of your food intake today comes from items with more than one ingredient?

One Exercise:

For the next week, track your food choices, your sleep (bedtime and wake-up time), and the number of steps you take each day. At the end of the week, reflect on what you’ve learned about your habits. Are there patterns that might be contributing to how you feel physically?

Note:

I’m not a doctor, but I’ve personally learned a lot from my own experience. The processed foods we eat, especially the ones we think are harmless (like protein bars or whole grain bread), are often packed with sugar and carbs. These foods can trigger insulin spikes and contribute to weight gain, even if we’re exercising or not overeating. Overcoming this takes focus, but it’s worth it. The food industry thrives on cheap, addictive, processed products, and it’s up to us to make better choices for our health. Just think: a pound of lemon cookies for $1.25—how can that be healthy? Let’s challenge ourselves to make smarter decisions.
